Then We Have...

when you cheat, you usually start small.
"this won't hurt no one," your thought assured your conscience.
or maybe, "i am forced to do this. i don't have any other option."
or the common one, "this is one time only."

well, guess what? it isn't.

there'd be the second time, maybe with a slightly different reason, or maybe because of something else. then there'd be the third time.

next time you know, you don't even think twice before you cheat.

and when we put this one person with the tendency of cheating, in the same place with another person that does not cheat, and when we don't punish the cheater when she cheats, let her took advantage, when we gave the same praise for her achievement as the non-cheater, you sure know what will happen.

the non-cheater will start to cheat too. not much, at first. maybe just a little, as a way to level things up. that'd be her reason. yet when we not noticing or even acknowledge the cheats, the inevitable thing would happen.

the cheating escalates.

suddenly, we have two cheaters, maybe even working together for mutual benefit. after all, if everybody's doing it, then the competition will level again and sure, nobody gets hurt, right?

wrong.

everything and everyone will suffer, condition deteriorates, systems broken.

then, we have Indonesia, present day.
